GENITAL INTEGRITY IS A HUMAN RIGHT.
Circumcision of males or females is mutilation.
We are all designed the way we are for a reason.
The male foreskin is NOT a birth defect!
Each part of the human body serves a purpose
and should be left 'as is'.
"If it's not broken, don't fix it!"
An INTACT penis isn't broken.
However, a circumcised penis certainly is.

                           HOW I BECAME AN INTACTIVIST
I have been an INTACTIVIST, Lactivist and advocate for children's/women's/human rights for nearly 25 years now.
My journey into this arena began when my first child, a son was born, from the moment I knew I was pregnant, I researched everything I could find on pregnancy, birth, babies, etc... (pre-pc-era)
I took Bradley classes, joined LLL still pregnant, wanted to homebirth, but got talked/scarred out of that, VERY LITTLE info on circumcision.
So I talked to people, circ'ed and whole men and all thumbs were up for circ, so against my own instincts, I had it done.
I was in a fairly sound proof room* and they took my son down and across the hall to another room. The sound of his screams are forever burned into my brain. I almost fainted. NEVER AGAIN....if I am ever blessed with another boy...never again...(*the NICU, should have done it at home, Dr. nearly killed my baby with unneeded/unwanted interventions, 16 days NICU)
Always GO with your instincts, it's your Mother (or Father) Wit guiding you.
So, I got on my soapbox and started talking to people about how it was mutilation, dangerous, PAINFULL, etc...when pc's came along I was/am rabid about it!
It is EXTREMELY frustrating when you present a person with unarguable FACTS and they still mutilate their child anyway. They MISS 2 key factors; #1; Circumcision is sexual mutilation. #2; Parents are the 'care takers' of the child, not the OWNER of the child. The child's body BELONGS to the child!
P.S. We do have another son, Marley, 5 1/2, solo UC water birth, INTACT and PROUD of it.

Care of an INTACT penis.
Very simple; Leave it alone!
NEVER try to retract or
clean under the foreskin.
If you have a daughter,
you do not wash INSIDE her vagina.
Wash your baby on the outside as usual.
That's it.
How much easier could it be?

The trauma and pain
 of circumcision
 can interrupt and interfere
 with breastfeeding
and infant/mother bonding

In most parts of the world, 'routine infant circumcision' (RIC) is unheard of. The practice became popularized in the USA in an effort to discourage masturbation. WHY, you ask? Because removing the foreskin causes the glans (the head of the penis) to become thickened and callused and other sensitive portions of the underlying foreskin are also removed. Leaving the circumcised penis LESS sensitive than it was intended to be and no longer able to function as nature intended.
The practice became so popular at one time, that many adult women (or men) had/have never even seen an intact penis. The mutilated penis was seen as "normal". But many men who have 'skin tags', 'skin bridges', 'crooked penises', 'tight and/or painful erections', 'scarring', etc... would beg to differ that this is in any way "normal". Many men feel violated by RIC.
Most parents would be shocked and appalled at the thought of sexually mutilating their baby daughters, but don't give a second thought to doing the same thing to their sons.
As more parents learn the FACTS about INTACTness vs. mutilation, they are choosing to "take the WHOLE baby boy home".

PARENTS MAGAZINE ~ GREEN LIVING ISSUE

ENDORSING MGM TO REDUCE HIV/AIDS RISK IN ADULTS!

The MARCH 2007 issue of PARENTS MAGAZINE sights a flawed study to endorse RIC as a "precautionary" measure, stating that it MAY ruduce the risk of AIDS in the ADULT MALE. (Click on cover photo to read article)
The best way to reduce the transmission of STD's is SAFE SEX, not infant circumcision. I encourage YOU to contact support@parents.com and express to the editors that mutilating a child is not the answer to preventing AIDS.
Also note that this is their 'GREEN LIVING' issue. Green living and MGM/ FGM are contrary issues.
